When the motive is revenge, murder is not enough.

Disgraced journalist Xander McAuslan and his Vietnam veteran and erstwhile cave-dwelling survivalist mate Lorenzo are in grave danger - a situation exacerbated by the fact that they have no idea their recent past is about to catch up with them.

Add into the mix an ambitious and sexy true crime podcaster and the savvy and sassy teenage daughter of the Vietnam veteran, and the story swings from Mole Creek to Sydney, Saigon and back to Tasmania as it hurtles toward its deadly conclusion.

Xander and Lorenzo must draw on all their street smarts and survival skills to get to the truth of both investigations, all the time unaware that no one, young or old, is safe as the assassin homes in on her unsuspecting quarry.

Author Biography

James Dunbar is a journalist, television scriptwriter, travel writer, university lecturer and website editor. Blood Moon is his third venture into the serious crime thriller and espionage genre, and is a direct sequel to his first, Mole Creek. His other crime novel with Echo, Twisted River, a psychological thriller, was published in 2025. He is also the author of two crime novels and two true-crime memoirs published as Jimmy Thomson, as well as several books about Australian army engineers (sappers) during the Vietnam and First World Wars. His latest military history, The First Anzacs, was published in 2026.
